The Core Mechanics: Power and Precision

The heart of an escalator consists of two continuous chains moving around two pairs of gears. At the top of the system, a powerful electric motor drives these gears to rotate the chain loops. Specifically, a typical GOTS escalator utilizes a high-performance 100-horsepower engine. Furthermore, the entire motor and chain system are housed within a robust metal truss. This truss acts as a bridge extending between two floors. Consequently, it provides the necessary structural support for heavy daily use.

Innovative Step Design and Movement

Unlike a flat conveyor belt, an escalator moves a continuous series of steps. The most interesting part of this system is how these steps remain level. Each step features two sets of wheels that roll along two separate tracks. The upper set is connected to the rotating chains and pulled by the drive gear. Meanwhile, the lower set simply follows behind.

Furthermore, the tracks are precisely spaced to keep each step perfectly horizontal. At the top and bottom of the escalator, these tracks flatten out. This allows the steps to fold into each other and form a flat platform. Consequently, passengers can enter and exit the escalator safely and easily. Each step also features specialized grooves to ensure a seamless connection with neighboring steps during this process.

In addition to moving the steps, the main motor also powers the handrails. The handrail is a rubber conveyor belt that loops around a series of wheels. High Efficiency and Load Capacity

Escalators are superior to elevators for short-distance transport due to their high load rate. While an elevator requires passengers to wait for its return, an escalator is always ready. As soon as one person reaches the top, space is created for the next.

GOTS escalators offer a speed range from 27 to 55 meters per minute. For instance, an escalator moving at 44 meters per minute can carry over 10,000 people per hour.
